Looks like the flowers have some lights inside...Beautiful.

Beautiful. The saturated color really makes the shot come to life. Good focus, as well.

This is great! I looked at your original photo and I think you did a great job with this version. It is much richer, jumps out at you and yet looks untouched. Wonderful!

@martie: thank you! sometimes i feel like i need to compensate for my point and shoot with photoshop to make it look like an untouched dslr ;) but i'm trying to overcome that urge in the interest of saving time.
Wow! I think this is wonderful, the pp has worked brilliantly. It really brings these little Periwinkles to life.

@MaryB: Thanks a lot! And thanks for letting me know what the flowers are called -- I'm really bad at flower names. I changed the title to include that information.
You did a great job with this -- the flowers 'pop' and I like the dappled light on the greenry.

so simple and the focus is just soft enough...don't change anything.

It looks almost ultra violet. I like the subtle edge darkening.

nice to see the before and after shots - I like the way you sharpened and saturated the subject without overdoing it. did you use photoshop or picassa? (still slow to get my pp feet wet...)
21 Feb 2008 7:16pm
@baobab: thanks baobab. this one was definitely a time consuming photoshop processing. couldn't have controlled the color that much in picasa, and more importantly, couldn't have processed the leaves differently from the flowers.
picasa can do a lot though, like today's shot was all in picasa except for very slight vignetting i added in photoshop -- i think i have only two shots where i did the black and white conversion in photoshop, the rest were in picasa and i got positive comments about the (totally picasa automated) conversion in a number of them.
