Sean from Champaign, United StatesNice abstract sneaker shot. Like how the fuzzy detail of the shoelace breaks up the fine pattern of the shoe leather. 9 Apr 2008 5:20am Michael Skorulski from Cigel, SlovakiaShows up the wonderful textures. Excellent idea! 9 Apr 2008 5:32am @Michael Skorulski: thanks! i can't claim to have been all that creative. I just took a photo of the side of my shoe and tried to get it so the lines and composition wasn't too boring. macroday came up with the shoe idea. Oeilonirique from FranceThe black and white fits very well to the cotton details and structures. 9 Apr 2008 5:56am Rags from Plano, United Stateslovely concept. I really love the way you framed the image. 9 Apr 2008 6:17am @Rags: thanks a lot. i actually wanted to frame it larger to get more lines and textures but since i have to resize down to 800 pixels wide for aminus3 it wouldn't have looked quite as macro, and since it's for macroday, i compromised. @Craig: thanks a lot! vu@granby - Wolfgang from Granby, Quebec, CanadaWell done! I love the details and textures.... 9 Apr 2008 12:24pm @vu@granby - Wolfgang: thanks Wolfgang! Melissa W. from Warsaw, Indiana, United StatesWonderful textures, nicely composed...I really like the detail of the shoelace. Excellent job. 9 Apr 2008 12:25pm @Melissa W.: thanks! i was worried the shoelace detail might not stick out enough, so i was trying to emphasize it more. Kevin from OrganicPIX.com from DFW, Texas, United StatesAfter the previous image, this macro makes wonder if you have started a Crime Scene Investigation series going. ;-) 9 Apr 2008 1:17pm @Kevin from OrganicPIX.com: Thanks Kevin! I like your sense of humor. :) @Oswegan: Thanks a lot. Especially nice coming from someone who produces such cool abstract, detailed, textured photos. MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomA brilliant close up, lots of great textures going on. 9 Apr 2008 4:45pm @MaryB: thank you! @yiannis krikis: thanks a lot. for once i spent a little time in photoshop playing with the levels on a b&w shot, i hope it paid off. standley from brou-sur-chantereine, FranceBeautiful and creative composition. Great lighting and textures! 9 Apr 2008 5:38pm @Ron: thanks, really appreciate that! @alun lambert: thanks alun! Ronnie 2¢ from London, United KingdomAlways surprises me how we can get so close as to not be able to recognise what we are looking at. Nice one. 9 Apr 2008 9:33pm Michael Rawluk from Prince George, CanadaThe detail, especially in the lace, is amazing. Very nicely done. 9 Apr 2008 11:22pm Denis from MartiniqueExcellent macro, but I like this picture as an abstract. no need to understand ! 10 Apr 2008 1:48am sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesYou can't untitle this sneaker. We have to know if you have a cool brand:-) Neat shot. 10 Apr 2008 2:51am Disoriented from Washington, DC, United StatesA wonderful shot. And speaking of the surprise of not recognizing what we see, did you take some of your photos near and on the campus of UC Berkeley? The Campanile (aka Sather Tower), the intersection, and the bones display in the anthro dept? When I saw them there was a moment of recognition but I couldn't place my finger on it. I ask because I used to visit the research libraries on the campus many many years ago. 10 Apr 2008 3:43am m a r t a from SpainWonderful abstract. I love the detail and the different textures. 10 Apr 2008 7:01am baobab from Cambridge, United Statesvery strong sense of texture (fuzzy) and a remarkably narrow depth of field. if you hadn't titled it, it would have been hard to guess that this is a sneaker. 11 Apr 2008 12:17am Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesI didn't realize there was a "macro day." Is there a central listing of these days somewhere or do you just have to be in the loop? I like the texture and form. 14 Apr 2008 3:15pm @Twelvebit: Well i sort of came across them from links to them on other photoblogs. But there is a list of a bunch of them on the Photo Meme Hall of Shame blog, if you scroll down a bit, it's on the right side. I googled 'photo meme' and found some sites with lists that aren't necessarily complete, also they're not all photography or they're not all weekly challenge type sites. |
