this photo tied for 3rd place in the macroday challenge, 'round!' thanks to everyone who visited or voted!
too much going on right now, so i haven't been able to catch up on everyone's blogs--and it's looking like it's only going to get worse. this is actually exciting for other aspects of my life but something has to give... i'll still be posting photos as i can, but since photoblogging is supposed to be my stress relief, not a source of stress (e.g. feeling bad when i'm unable to respond to comments or follow your work--not only because i so appreciate your having doing that for my work but also because i enjoy seeing and being inspired by yours), this will unfortunately have to be one of the things that 'gives.' again, danthro is not disappearing, just appearing less.
Comments, feedback, criticism, suggestions, etc. are always appreciated. Thanks! Image too large? Click the 'small' link in the bottom right corner for a smaller view.

Very inventive!

Terrific composition and depth - especially like the glimpse of color spectrum on the edges!

I've got to agree, I like to gradient of color at the edges of the disc.

Yep, me too on the edge color. To answer your color, it's your site so you have to decide for yourself what size you want your image. However, since you asked:-) I used to post larger images and came to the conclusion that sometimes less is more:-)

Cool shot!

Very cool image! Craig said it very well: "very inventive!" With respect to the size issue: I have a 30-inch cinema display at work on which your images load completely within my browser; I have a 17-inch Mac Powerbook at home on which I sometimes have to scroll. Visitors always have the option of selecting the "small" option down in the lower right corner of the page if they want to see the entire (larger vertical) image on screen. Perhaps when you post a vertical image that exceeds, say, 900 pixels in height you could suggest in the description box "Too large? Click the small link in the bottom right corner for a smaller view." I may give this a try myself. Good food for thought, Danthro!

@Ron: Thanks a lot, Ron! And that's a great idea about the small link--didn't even think of that. I think I'm going to use that line.
A very original shot. The focus is good but what I like most is the bright colours in the bottom left hand corner that CDs produce.

So, you're one of the reasons recording industry execs have had to buy smaller yachts.

@Twelvebit: lol ...Twelvebit demonstrates his skillful use of the English language yet again :)
Good close-up, cool image :)

excellent detail and very nice color reflection

excellent idea...the lighting is wonderful...the gradient of color in the bottom left corner really makes this image cool. great job!

Great idea! I like the color spectrum on the edge.

Good close up, good PP and the vertical size of your images are fine on this 20" monitor I'm viewing on, but would probably not fit on my friends mini sized laptop. It all depends on what we are using to look at your site, so I think you should not worry too much. I restrict the vertical & horizontal size of my images to a maximum 700 pixels in whichever is the longest edge, which seems to be ok on the different monitors I've looked at my blog on if thats any help.

beautiful spectral colours on the edge of the disc, a really good close up shot.

This is an example of one using the ordinary to make and extraordinary image!

Good macro image

Perhaps you could sell this on a stock photo site. it's generic enough for that purpose, although at the same time, its presented in a beautifully artistic way. I really like the composition and the gleaming colours on the edge of the disc.

@Andrew Gould: thanks!! but seriously? i have to look into that. i certainly wouldn't complain if someone wanted to pay me for it! any suggestions about how to do that--sites to visit, how to find out if they'd buy it?
nice framing, there's some dirt you need to clean, but nice light and tones.
