i realize this is unimpressive to those of you with tripods or DSLRs or special lenses to see the moon, but i'm excited 'cause it's the best photo of the moon i've managed to get with my point and shoot. granted the sky didn't look quite this dark at the time (it was evening but the photo came out darker since i lowered the exposure setting), but still... :)
sorry, not able to respond to comments the next few days, back sunday or monday.

Nice shot

This really is a nice shot. The framing of the silhouetted tree branches is a nice touch. I always manage to get a white dot when taking pictures of the moon. One of these days I'll get it right.

you're living proof the most important tool in photography is the photographer. it isn't always necessary to have the best most expensive gear and exotic lenses to produce quality images. thanks for showing us how to utilize what's between our ears not what we hold in front of our eyes. good work danthro.

Yes, you captured an amazingly sharp detail of an object that is 238,857 miles away, and I too like the visual reference with the tree. Beautiful blue sky too!

Mortola's and Kevin's comment's say it all and I couldn't agree more. This is a fantastic shot of the moon.

The full shot is beautiful, but the crop that appears on the comment page is really cool too.

Well, the advantage here is that the moon is naturally sized. A telephoto shot of the moon where the moon is the subject is interesting, if over done; but personally, I feel like the shots with the enlarged moon in the background have become rather trite due to overuse --especially in movies. I prefer to see the moon in proper relation to the other elements in the frame, like here.
