@mherizat: thanks. actually i did most of the processing in picasa on this one. i converted it to sepia and made some tonal adjustments and sharpened, and then in photoshop i did a shadows/highlights adjustment and added a vignette.
Toned with expertise!

Commonly called a "Planter". You put the seed in those funnel shaped things on top and there's a timing chain on it and as you pull it behind a tractor those bottom things do two things. The first one makes a row, the timing chain opens the funnel to drop seeds and then the other part on the bottom covers the row. Very basic, but works like a charm in a small field. My husband had a John Deere brand planter in the early 80's. Very cool find and excellent processing to add a vintage feel. Now, I feel vintage:-)

Super job with the sepia ... the field behind looks pristine - like its recently been plowed and awaiting this apparatus to plant.

I've finally got in to visit :) A fantastic shot of this very interesting machinery, the sepia works well. Adding to the vintage look of the apparatus.

There is nothing I use more in Photoshop than the old shadow/highlight dialog.
