17mm...wow, you went wide. Many would tend to zoom in, but personally, I don't care for an object like this against a plain sky. I think the wide angle approach is a better choice.

@Twelvebit: thanks, but i didn't do it on purpose. i was shooting automatic. it is possible that the camera was left on macro mode, sometimes i forget to change that, but i'm not sure if that was the case here or if it would have had this effect.
