An interesting shot, but I think the bales themselves blend into the background a bit too much. Maybe it might've been cool to almost fill the frame with one bale, with glimpses of the rest of the field and other bales out of focus in the background?

@DaveB: yeah, i know what you mean. it blended in even more before i processed it. unfortunately they were on the other side of a fence...

Cool shot. Everyone has their own opinions (thankfully) but actually I think focusing on just one bale would lose the very thing that makes this photo so interesting. The dispersal of bales is what gives the shot some rhythmic interest. And I like that it's almost monochrome because it emphasizes the almost abstract quality of the shot. Nice work.

I love the image. The color saturation, light, and composition is exceptional. Are you certain this is hay? It looks like bales of straw to me, but I was wrong one other time:-)

love this shot - it's a departure from your usual subjects :) I particularly the dark shadows from strong sunlight.

how much control does your camera give you over aperture / dof? might be interesting to do the same shot at different apertures, e.g. a small f-stop for much greater dof would be an interesting comparison with this one, where the endless hay gradually blurs away into bokeh.
