untitled elementary school closing 3

went to see someone who lives near an elementary school i attended. he mentioned it's being closed so i decided to take some photos for a series...

can anyone guess what this is?
dj.tigersprout wins the challenge! i thought you might have to wait until tomorrow's broader view shot to find out what it is, but looks like aminus3-ers are smarter than even I anticipated ;) -- this is part of a map of the USA painted on the playground -- the yellow is California, the green is Oregon, and the blue is Nevada.

sorry i'm not able to catch up on everyone's blogs as i'd like to, focusing on other pursuits more now.

When I saw it was located at an elementary school my first thought was lines for some kind of game on the playground, but I also thought you were going to tell us:-) so I'm probably wrong. I'm surprised the school is closed when this paint looks fairly new. It makes a beautiful image. Whoever came up with the color scheme had a good eye for color and obviously you do as well. You've filled the frame excellently.

@sherri: thanks, sherri! you bring up a great point about the paint looking new. in fact, the entire school appeared to have a new coat of paint. it wasn't closed because it's old, it was closed because enrollment in the school district went down, and because they had just spent tons of money to build a brand new elementary school because they thought enrollment was going up.

LOVE this! Great colors...love the texture...fantastic capture. Who would have thought there'd be a great image among those states. Now the real question is: which states do they represent?

thanks for the reprocessed shot. I've been doing computer surgery and have been using my yucky old dim-screened backup, but am looking forward to seeing your shot in all its glory on my regular monitor!

The border with Nevada kind of gives it away (although, I have to admit, knowing what it is in advance helps a bit as well) ... was it there when you were a kid?

The choice of the framing was excellent. Independently of knowing now what it is, that makes a very good abstract composiiton.

Very cool - wish I hadn't shown up so late on the playground to play the guessing game. I probably would have lost anyway, but the fun is in the playing, right?! :-)
