went to see someone who lives near an elementary school i attended. he mentioned it's being closed so i decided to take some photos for a series...

so this is where asphalt meets grass... don't have a broader photo of the field (couldn't think of many good compositions and it was getting dark). the main things i remember about this field are having to run around it during phys ed, playing soccer with classmates at lunch (i was the kid who got picked last or next to it), and doing the test for a project to build a mini-'house' that was hurricane (actually, leaf blower) resistant.

coming back to photoblogging after some time away; trying to post a new photo every couple weeks.

I'm glad you're sharing your thoughts. I always felt sorry for the kid who was always picked last. Whenever I got to be the captain to pick the kids, I picked the kid who always got picked last first. Did that come out right? Needless to say I didn't get picked to be the captain very often because the captains were ruthless. Now I figure they're some loser out there in the world that looks a lot older than me...lol...see, I can be optimistic when I wanna be:-) I'm enjoying this series already. I like the symbolism of your photo.

You really are revealing some insights into your past with this series ... a member of the SEC and last to be picked with a voracious appetite for drinking fountain water ... hmmmmmm ... anthropologically speaking what does this tell me about the man from Suburbia ...

I have to tell you, you win bonus points for this image with the descriptive line "so this is where asphalt meets grass" ... it takes the creative, compositional skills of the social scientist to make a shot like this work!

Love the processing and composition...I like the angle and how the bits of weeds creep onto the asphalt like fringe.

It's interesting the moments we remember from our childhood...I, too, was one of those kids who were always picked next to last, if not last (I know, big surprise there). I was such a shy, introverted, bookworm...much happier being unnoticed and in the background, never one to seek attention. Man, I haven't thought about that stuff in years.
